Welcome

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Arcadis (formerly IBI Group) to complete a Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study for a new interchange at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 6 and associated municipal roads, as well as a new commuter parking lot in the vicinity of the interchange. The purpose of these improvements is to improve safety, enhance traffic flow and connectivity along this critical provincial corridor, and address future capacity issues within the study area. A key plan outlining the study area is presented below.

This study was following the planning process for Group “B” projects under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (MTO 2000), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. For more information regarding the details of the study, please visit the Study Overview and Documents tabs.

One Public Information Centre (PIC) was held for this Detail Design study on May 23, 2024. Details on the date, time, and location of this PIC were posted to the Consultation Page of this website and sent to all contacts on the project mailing list. For reference, copies of the displays from this PIC have also been uploaded to the Consultation and Documents pages of this website.

A Design and Construction Report (DCR) was published on this website for a 35-day comment period starting Thursday December 18, 2026 and ending on Friday January 23, 2026. The comment period has closed. At this time, no further comments are being accepted for this project.

A new Construction-Phase project website will be launched when construction begins. Contract Adminstration contact information will be shared at that time. It is anticipated that the new website will provide timeline and detour information.
